Stephen S. Atchison, 76, of Bremerton passed away on December 27, 2011. He was born on February 27, 1935 to Lester and Mildred (Flynn) Atchison in Spokane, WA. He married Ruby Frances Leota in Gig Harbor on December 28, 1974. He received his high school diploma through an apprenticeship as a Pipefitter at the Naval Shipyard. Later he became a Nuclear Inspector and Shop Foreman. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955 at Schofield Barracks and Ft. Derucy in Hawaii. He belonged to the Elks, American Legion, VFW, and the Eagles. He enjoyed listening to music, photography, and reading. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, father-in-law, and brother, Earl Atchison. He survived by his wife Ruby Frances Leota, sons; Douglas Atchison, Jay Vaifanua, Joseph Vaifanua, Jessie Leota; brother Don Atchison (Candy), grandchildren; Sarah, Jordan, Lena, Faamaini, Jimmy, James, Jessie, and two great-grandchildren Eva and Jeremy. Extended family members include George & Diane Stefanini and Dorothy Faagau. There will be a Visitation on Jan 4, 2012, from 5:00–8:00pm at Miller Woodlawn Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass on Thursday, Jan 5, 2012 starting with a Rosary at 10:30 at Our Lady Star of the Sea followed by a Graveside service at 12:30pm at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park. A reception will follow the graveside service.
