I can only imagine what witty remarks you would have had over the past years 'events'! Hard to believe it's been almost a year since we lost you. You are truly missed in SO many ways and losing you has put a hole in my heart and I'm sure in the heart's of many. A day doesn't and won't go by that I don't think of you and wish we had had more time in this life together. With that, I quote you my dear brother, "later"....

There has not been a day go by when you are not on my mind. Now, its your birthday so I will have to do the "zoom song" this way:
My name is zoom and I live on the moon.....Just came down to sing you this toon, cause Steve, your the big star today and forever!
May 16, 2013
Today is your birthday. I will still sing you the zoom song, but will miss you laughing at me afterwards. There has not been a day that goes by that I dont think of you, Marilyn & Elizabeth and wondering how everyone is doing. I miss you alot, but also miss your family. Mushy Mushy brother dear! Here is the official birthday song:
My name is zoom and I live on the moon, just came down to sing you this toon, cause Steve, your the big star TODAY! I have always loved you big brother and although you are gone, this will never change. Mushy Mushy l.

I only knew Nova by his writings online. He was a wonderfully talented story teller and writer, and I remember looking forward to his daily installments. I will miss him and am very sorry to hear of his passing and his families loss. Good luck to you all. Iam

I will miss you my friend. I am glad I got to communicate with you on a somewhat personal level. Your writing will also be missed. I wish we had been able to meet in person. You told me once that my email had said the right thing, at the right time. I think your reply meant more to me than my words did to you.
I wish the best for your family and hope they know what a following you had.

I'm so sorry I missed this until now. I had been checking his blog for several months wondering if he'd made it to his getaway in the countryside. My condolences and best wishes to all the family. I enjoyed very much working with him on his first novel, he was a creative, visionary, prolific author.

My honored friend, I will miss you enormously.
I, too, knew Steve from Calculated Risk - as well as from his books, and from email exchanges in which I told him how much I learned from his unique vision, his story lines, and his spot on rendition of local color.
He was gracious enough to respond. A generous nature, a loving father, a dry wit. I will remember him forever, with respect and admiration.
My sincere condolences to his family.

So sad to hear Stephen passed away. Like many others, I knew of him as 'nova' at Calculated Risk. I greatly enjoyed his comments, and as he was writing his first book, reading it chapter by chapter as he shared it with us. We wrote via email a few times, and he was always very kind.
I was actually online with others here when it was confirmed he had passed, reading in the dark on the phone as my family slept. I was so sad, for him as he had been really productive and excited about his life, and for his family - their loss. My heart goes out to all of you.

Stephen (known to me as nova) was obviously a man of wit, integrity, humility and, most of all, humanity. RIP and condolences to the family.

I am very saddened to learn of his death. I knew him only as Nova on CalculatedRiskblog, but always valued his comments and insights on everyday life, and greatly loved his fiction writing that he posted there as he created it. A great loss.

Everyone is welcome to visit the Calculated Risk blog and read Steve's comments over the years. He hung out there as "nova" and his contributions are archived for all to read. See if you can spot his nickname on the "Mortgage Pig" t-shirt. Steve's dry humor was perfect for his Onion-esque takes on current affairs - so subtle, so outrageous, so right on. He was a unique and prominent voice in the CR/HCN online community; his presence is preserved there and he will be long remembered by many.

As a fellow commenter for years, I appreciated Stephen's (Nova) wit during some dark days for our country. He will be sorely missed by our online community.
With thanks for his time, I wish him and his family well.

Lacking words I shall quote Stephen:
"About Me (Tell Us About Yourself)
Well, I like puppy dogs, rainbows, and the smell of fresh cut grass on a summer day. I believe that we can all come together as one people and make this world a better place to live in. So...just for today...reach out and hug someone close to you and tell them how much you love them!"
Requiescat in pace.

I too will miss Nova. His observations were always astute and interesting. His writings, well, I just hope this future passes us by but the ideas he expressed were always thought provoking.
To his 'real' family, my sympathy. He added much to our virtual world.

I only knew Stephen (nova) only through his comments on HCN (Calculated Risk blog) but I always felt that he was a good man in every sense of the phrase. His thoughtful insight and wit, with which he pointed out the many follies of these times, will be greatly missed by many in our online community.

I knew him as Nova, a blazing light that burned out too soon and bright.
I never met him, and he would not call me a friend.
Though in our exchanges he enlightened and renewed my spirit.
We seemed to have shared a similar path, but he broke the ground for me and showed the way..
He openly shared his wisdom and knowledge, and for that I will always be thankful for.
While he may not have called me a friend, I am proud to call him a mentor.
May he always be remembered for his guidance for light;
While everyone heade's your warnings of the dark.
Kauai Kahuna, I pray you rest in peace.

I am very saddened by Steve's sudden passing, though I did not know him personally we spoke on many occasion on Calculated Risk a Financial Blog. We even exchanged a few emails as he thanked me for all the links I provide and that he even used a few during his research. I did consider him a friend, as most know blogging is and interaction with others and when you do this sort of thing on a daily basis you get the kind of formal interaction as if you knew the person for years.
In realty I knew Steve for years.
He will be sorely missed and I am sure he is resting well in God hands.

Big Brother - Too many memories and not enough space here to write them all. We will miss you every minute of every day. Only wish time would have been longer and we were smarter to not let so much time go by without saying how we feel. I love you....Lisa
