Stephen J. Jacobson, 69, of Phillip Drive, Spofford, was called home Tuesday, March 19, following a courageous battle with cancer. Stephen J. Jacobson, 69, of Phillip Drive, Spofford, was called home Tuesday, March 19, following a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was at home, able to watch the falling snow on the last day of winter, surrounded by his family as he was escorted into heaven.

He was born in Memphis, TN, July 15, 1943. Steve grew up in Brooklyn, NY, the oldest of seven siblings of William and Evelyn (Bauer) Lancieri. In 1962 Steve graduated from John Adams High School, then later in November enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. During his term, he served as a rescue helicopter pilot during the Vietnam conflict until November 1965. He went on to get his degree in Finance and Economics from Hofstra University, NY. Steve's great passion for learning allowed him to move into several industries. At each company he was employed he not only embraced the challenge and people but also made many lifelong friends.

Four children were brought into our world during his marriage (1967-1982) to Susan Holland of Brooklyn, NY. The family moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1972. During his time in Colorado he enjoyed directing several community plays and coaching baseball, including his children in each of these activities.

In 1992 Steve met Victoria Petersen of Ft Collins, CO where they were both employed at Advanced Energy, Inc. On August 20, 1994 they were married at the home of Victoria's parents at Red Feather Lakes, CO. Steve went on to work for Horizon Organics until 2005 when Steve accepted a position at New Chapter Organics in Brattleboro, VT. Steve and Victoria fell in love with New Hampshire and settled in Spofford. In 2008, Steve went into part time retirement as a consultant, assisting small business owners with profitability and growth.

An avid runner, Steve ran several marathons even qualifying for the Boston Marathon. An enjoyable evening included a glass of wine, good music and conversation. Favorite activities included world travel, sailing, driving sports cars and attempting to play golf. Since becoming a Grandfather, his greatest joy has been laughing, storytelling and wrestling with the grandchildren. Steve's compassion was his greatest talent and gift, mentoring people to expand their knowledge. Steve attended the Monadnock Covenant Church in Keene.

Steve's loving survivors include his wife Victoria (Petersen) Jacobson of Spofford; his parents, William and Evelyn Lancieri of Patchogue, NY; sons: Stephen Jacobson and wife Lisa of Langhorne PA; Christopher Jacobson and wife Adrienne of Ft. Collins, CO; Kyle Colvin of Casper, WY; daughters: Jennifer Jacobson of Denver, CO, and Vanessa Porterfield of Glenwood Springs, CO; brother Bill Lancieri of Farmingville, NY; sisters: Jackie Erickson of Staten Island, NY; Grace Zurcher of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Donna Caixeiro of Valhalla, NY; Evelyn Cappolo of Farmingville, NY; and Ellen Vitello of Mahopac, NY; seven grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Steve's son Sean C. Jacobson and brother-in-law Walter Zurcher await him in heaven.

Services for Mr. Jacobson will be held at the Monadnock Covenant Church, located at the corner of Base Hill Road and Route #9 in Keene, Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 pm. Friends are invited. There are no public calling hours. A Celebration of Steve's life will be held in Colorado in May.

It has been requested that gifts be made in memory of Mr. Jacobson, to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, BCAN, 4915 St. Elmo Avenue, Suite 202, Bethesda, MD. 20814 (www.bcan.org) or to the Caring Bridge; Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 6032, Albert Lea, MN. 56007 (www.caringbridge.com).
