Stephen Raymond Szuba, age 90, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on November 18, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignatius and Mary Szuba and 3 siblings.
Steve was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He was accepted into the elite V-12 Navy College Training Program at St. Lawrence University. After completing his studies, he attended Officers' Training School at the University of Notre Dame and upon his commission was assigned to the USS Cabildo in the Pacific fleet. He later graduated with a business degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Steve held managerial roles of increasing responsibility at Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 37 years. He was a recipient of the prestigious Order of Merit Award for outstanding contributions in the field of quality and reliability.
Steve put God first, family second and his career third. He was a loving, supportive and generous husband, father and grandfather, who was extremely proud of his family. Steve enjoyed gardening, woodworking, golf and international travel. He was an engaging story-teller, who had a great sense of humor. He found joy in simple pleasures, such as spending time with his wife and family, watching a good movie and reading. He also loved family traditions and family summer vacations. He was a believer that life was directed by God with a master plan, not just incidents left to chance. According to Steve, events were not coincidental – "Gates opened" and opportunities presented themselves. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Bede Catholic Church for 20 years.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Loretta; his four daughters and sons-in-law, Dorie and Joe Zapata, Cindy and David Fedor, Rusty and Rich Anderson and Stephanie and Rich Williams and his 7 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Erica, Stephen, Christopher, Julia, Bridget and Megan.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, November 21 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. The Szuba family extends an invitation to those attending to join them at a reception immediately following from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "St. Bede Catholic Church Living Our Mission Campaign" in his memory.

Loretta and family members of my good friend, co-worker, mentor and boss.
We had exciting times creating a great quality assurance image in the NJ Westinghouse plant. I'm sure that anyone who bought our products would be happy to tell Steve " you lived up to your reputation". Did a great job.
I was saddened to hear of Steve's departure, but we can all be assured that he is sitting on the right side of God.
It was my pleasure to share many moments with Steve. He shaped my future through his guidance and willingness to go to bat for the things he believed in.
Sally and I send our most heartfelt condolences to all of you.
We can't imagine a world without Steve.
God bless you all.

Dear Aunt Loretta and Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences and heartfelt prayers at this difficult time. Uncle Steve was definitely one of a kind. On my last visit to the Outer Banks, I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent at Carrabba's, in Williamsburg, visiting and catching up with one another. I can't remember the last time I laughed so heartily. I'm certain Uncle Steve is now sharing those stories with all of our family members we've lost over the years. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless...
