On the morning of May 30, George Wieckowski passed away at Desert View Hospital in Pahrump Nevada. George was 91 years old at the time of his passing. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and was the youngest of 18, a large Polish family that immigrated from Warsaw, Poland. George was a funeral director for Palm Mortuary for over 40 years and was a very dedicated employee during those years. He worked up until his mid 80’s as George never felt the desire to retire from work and most of his social life evolved around the mortuary business. He also trained the Sheriff’s Department deputies in coroners cases in Nye County.

George’s hobbies were sketching, painting ( George has a number of very beautiful pastels and oil paintings) , fishing, traveling to Catalina Island, Chicago, and reading his prayer books.

George was in the Air Force and met his wife Marjorie Helen Gedney while serving in the 1940’s. Out of this union was one daughter; Margaret Whittaker. He is survived by his daughter Margaret, granddaughters Troy Blain, Kim Upton , 6 great grand- children and 7 great-great grandchildren. He was not just a grandfather to his family but too many of us a father.
