Steven Bratschi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 29, 2016.

Steven Mark Bratschi, age 59, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at home. Ever the jokester, Steve was known to lovingly tease and pick on the people he loved. His sense of humor and kind heart will be missed by all.

Steve was born April 28, 1957 in Traverse City to Clark and Lois (Duell) Bratschi. He attended Elk Rapids Schools, graduating in 1976. On February 17, 1978, Steve married Sandra Kay Magee in Bellaire, where they made their home and raised their family.

He had a passion for Special Olympics, working as the Director of Area 2 of Northern Michigan and devoting his time encouraging his son, Steven, and countless other children in their endeavors with Special Olympics. He loved coaching basketball, soccer and skiing, woodworking, but most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Dedicating himself to his work for the County and residents of Antrim, Steve worked as a deputy for Antrim County. He left for a brief time to work as an office manager for Petrolane. He finished his career back with Antrim County as the 911 Director. He was very proud of his work and proud to serve his community

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Clark Bratschi and a brother, Kevin Bratschi.

As 9-1-1 employees we attended training sessions together. Even though we represented different counties, I could always depend on Steve's smiling face and joking personality. He will be remembered kindly.

I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with Steve when I was an employee of Antrim County. He was a big help in street naming and numbering for 911 purposes and other measures necessary for the county. Steve was fun to work with and to be serious when it was necessary. I am sure when he left his job earlier this year that what he started will continue the way I am sure he would have like.
So sorry for his wife and son in their loss along with other family members in the community. Special Olympics have also suffered a loss. Rest in Peach Steve.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Sandy and Steven. He was a wonderful, kind and compassionate man and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, especially those he loved the most, his family. I will always remember his pride in Steven and all his accomplishments. God bless.
