Steven Allen Miller died at home on January 26, 2013 surrounded by family. Steve fought a long battle with cancer, never losing his optimism or sense of humor. Steve is survived by Wife, Jane; Sons, Alex (Bethanie) & Ben; Grandchildren, Eli & Lucy; Parents Jerry & Rita; Brother, Mike (Candace); Sister, Debbie (Bob); Numerous Relatives & Friends. Steve was born on March 27, 1954 at Patrick Air Force Base in Coco, FL. He grew up in Hayfield, MN & graduated from Hayfield High School in 1972. He received his BA from the U of M Morris in 1976 with a double major in Political Science & Economics. Steve & Jane met at U of M Morris in 1972 & were married on January 12, 1974. After graduating from college they moved to Sunnyvale, CA where they lived for two years before returning to MN in 1978. Their son Alex was born in 1982 & their son Ben was born in 1984. They lived in Woodbury since 1985. Steve's favorite job for many years was as a systems analyst at NRG Energy where his knowledge of computers allowed him to fill a niche, making him a big hit with the energy traders. He was an antique tractor enthusiast & had a collection of old John Deere, Massey Harris, Farmall & Ford tractors along with a variety of garden tractors. He loved to give his grandchildren & grandnephews tractor rides. He enjoyed puttering around the farm he & Jane had in western MN. Steve loved movies & spent his final days enjoying some old favorites. He was a voracious reader & had the ability to retain almost everything he read, making him a popular team member for Trivial Pursuit. He loved working on computers & was the go-to guy for computer problems. His love of family was evident daily. When he was first diagnosed with cancer in 2000 he was sad to think he may not have opportunity to be a Grandpa. Fortunately he was able to be Grandpa to Eli & Lucy, who called him "Pi". Steve was indeed a great Grandpa. They enjoyed many tractors rides at the farm, built some amazing Duplo structures not to mention miles of track for Thomas the Train & his friends. Steve will be dearly missed by his family & friends. He was an inspiration throughout his illness & created wonderful memories for those who knew him. His memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, 1/30. with visitations one hour prior to the service on Wednesday & Tuesday, 1/29 from 5 - 8PM all at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Fairview Hospice or the U of M Medical Center Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT).

"I was given a card and asked to share a memory of Steve. The thing I remember above all else was his laugh. It was the best laugh ever and whenever you..." Cindy Rossow (Mapleton, MN)
