Steven Wayne Porter, 67, passed away quietly in his sleep in the early morning hours of July 18, 2013, at his home in Pensacola, FL. Steven was born Sept. 16, 1945, in Hyannis, to Ethel (Forgeron) Porter and the late Warren Porter. A native of Cape Cod, he served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for years in Kentucky in the thoroughbred horse industry before returning to Cape Cod to join his brother, David, in construction and carpentry.
He and his dearly loved wife of 27 years, Janis (Salvaggio) Porter, moved to Pensacola, FL, upon retirement, where he luxuriated in ample sunshine.
He is survived by his devoted son, Jeremy Porter, charming daughter, Walker Logan and her husband Zach Logan. Steven was the loving brother of David Porter, Tim Porter, Kitty Belliveau, and the late Danny Porter. He is the cherished grandfather of Grant, Grace, Vienne, and Carrver. He was very much beloved by his wife, loved his children and grandchildren, and was a kind and generous "Grampa Silly."

Sending wishes for comfort to Jeremy and Walker. I remember playing horse tag and competing with Steve in a rodeo at Fort Devens, and him introducing me to Ry Cooder & other cool music at Tanrackin Farm, and sledding with him at Xalapa. He was a cool dude, and he was very proud of his kids -- rightly so. You are a wonderful legacy.
Sending hugs.

I cannot believe you are gone. I miss your holiday visits. I miss you and Janis eating the dreadful Christmas cookies we would sometimes bake for caroling with a smile on your faces. Rest in Peace.

Jan and family- words cannot express how sorry and shocked we all are. Poker will not be the same without Steve and his random card holders. :-) We all miss playing cards with him already as I know you do also. He was so much fun and always had a smile. Y'all are in our thoughts and prayers! We are here for you if you need anything! I wish so much that we could be with you at this time. Big hugs! And know that at every game, we are thinking of you and him and wishing he was here to take all my chips again! Love and prayers, Billy and Jessy, Raine, Willliam and Abby.
