I will always remember Steven as we were classmates beginning at Bond Street Grammar School. In our school play he was George Washington and I was Betsy Ross.
Eventually, he was my parents' attorney ( My father was a lawyer so that was quite a compliment.) and he was my estate attorney a few years before he died.
He will be in my memories forever.

We were walking, my late father and I, when I was a child. As we passed his office, my father said " That is an honorable man."

To Helene and family. Our thoughts are with you on the lose of Steve. Having been a close friend from early childhood I knew what kind of special person he was. Even in our later years when we connected for reunions, both Steve and Helene were warm and gracious hosts to me.
Steve fought a hard struggle but in our conversations he was always looking for the positive and a happy future with his family.
I and my wife Fredda will miss Steve and his wonderful ways. Those who knew him from his life at the shore, where I knew him, to his adult life, have lost a kind a beautiful soul.
As he would say as he called out the game of Fascination on the boardwalk "roll the ball up and under the glass and into a hole to win the Game" one last time for Steve.

When I was a kid and grew up next door to Steve on West Lake Ave. Swam in his pool, noshed in his house, soaped his car windows on mischief night, shoveled snow from his walkway, played with the baby, dated his niece, all kinds of stuff neighbor kids would do to someone they trusted, liked, and respected. Plenty of good memories I have of Steve. Rest in peace, my friend.

Steve and I grew up in Asbury Park and enjoyed many happy years at Bond Street school and APHS. I can remember playing kick ball with him and with many other special friends at Bond Street. We also spent many special times at his dad's store. He was the type of person you knew would make something of himself, and he did. My sincere thoughts and prayer are with him and his beautiful family. May you rest in peace Steve.

Steve and I met on the Asbury Park boardwalk in 1963.  He was 18, I was 14.  As we grew up, we fell in love, married in 1969 and had two beautiful sons.  My parents loved Steve as they would a son, and he always remained a part of their lives.  Although we parted in 1982, we remained very close, and I never lost sight of the important history we shared.  I am so happy that Steve was able to enjoy his sons and their accomplishments and play with his grandsons, whom he loved and cherished.  My own family has only wonderful memories of Steve and have always enjoyed the pictures of his first car (a '62 chevy), his graduation from college and law school, and his swearing in as Assistant Prosecutor of Monmouth County, just to name a few.

My sincerest condolences to his family.  He loved you all very much.

My condolences to Helene and the rest of Steve's family. Ironically, I was just thinking about him when I heard the news. Working for Steve for the 5 years that I did, gave me the greatest experience as a paralegal.

I grew up around the corner from steve on asbury ave and remember his fathers corner store. I was a klutz and steve was the one who finally taught me how to ride a bike! I guess I was about 5 but I never forgot his patience and kindness.

Helene, I am so sorry for your loss. Steve was a wonderful person who loved you so much. Kind, caring and always putting smiles on peoples faces. I will remember all the laughs we have shared as well as the arguments. Briana you had a great dad and I always enjoyed when he would bring you to court with him. The municipal courts will miss you and so will I.

I knew Steve since grammar school, and although I moved away from the shore in the early 70's, when I attended the 40th reunion, Steve was the first person to visit with me, like we had seen each other last week. Truly a nice person.

We are devastated by the loss of our beloved attorney and my childhood friend.
We shared so many wonderful days in Asbury Park when Steve and I attended Bond Street School together. Steve was Gen. George Washington in our school play and signed his recent letters to me "Gen. G.W."
Sincere condolences to all of his family. We will miss him so very much.

Christa Kessler-Riddle and the Kessler family

We are all very saddened to hear of Steve's passing. My mind is reeling with memories: Steve's fatherly advice, wisdom, and reassurance during difficult times as I learned to navigate adulthood; his distinct voice; and of course, his constantly cluttered desk that we could never seem to tame. I am especially sad that we lost touch over the past decade. I thought of Steve and Helene often, as they were always two very special, gracious people with the perfect mix of class and compassion. For me, this is the end of an era. I am glad I applied for that "administrative help wanted" ad over 20 years ago; as I passed in and out of Steve's office on Monmouth Road over the years, I learned a lot about law and, most importantly, the value of friendship. Thank you for the memories that will never leave. My family's condolences to Helene and Steve's children, whom I know he treasured.

Helene, it is with a sad heart that I extend my deepest condolences to you and your family at the loss of your husband Steve. He was a good friend to both Bruce and I and his wise words helped both Bruce and I during Bruce's illness and passing. Know he is now an angel watching over you and will guide you thru this difficult time. Keep all your memories close to your heart as this seems to help. I will call you next week but if I can help in any way please call me at anytime. As nurses people always think we are so strong and we are but it still hurts when a love one gets their wings.
