Merilynn Suzanne Hutchens passed away peacefully on August 25, 2014 at her home in Rosharon, Texas. She was born, September 27, 1931 in Racine, Wisconsin to Jerome and Lucille Haas. Merilynn was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lee Hutchens and grandson, Walter Gerald Hutchens. She is survived by her loving children, Sheryl Hutchens, Richard Hutchens, John Hutchens, Farrell Hutchens and Teri Blahuta. Sixteen grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one very special great-great grandchild. Merilynn was a strong-willed, independent lady with a wicked sense of humor who worked outside her home, all of her life, during the years when most women stayed at home and didn't work. Merilynn was fanatic fan of the Houston Oilers football team and taught her children to yell at the television, for all the right reasons. She loved to host parties, music and dance and gathering her big family together for birthdays and holidays. Merilynn was a trophy winning bowler, attended Texas National Guard functions and was known as, "Yankee Dime" to her Citizens Band Radio outlaw friends. A celebration of her life will be held on August 28, 2014 in the chapel of Forest Park East funeral home in Webster, Texas at 12:30 P.M. Interment to follow in Forest Park East Cemetery.
