Sue T. Walker, age 94, passed away in Conroe, Texas, on July 20, 2014. She was born on January 17, 1920, to James Butler Tharp and Lucy Blackerby Tharp, in Trimble County, Kentucky. Sue grew up on her parent's dairy farm in Trimble County and graduated from Sulphur High School in Sulphur, Kentucky. She subsequently obtained a teaching degree from Western Kentucky University.

Sue married her high school sweetheart, Lewis Harold Walker, on August 28, 1942, in Tampa, Florida, where Lewis was engaged in flight training as a new Army Air Corps Second Lieutenant. Sue returned to Sulphur when Lewis departed for Europe in June of 1943. During the next two years, while Lewis flew bombing missions in Europe, Sue taught elementary school in Sulphur. Upon the conclusion of World War II, Sue and now Major Lewis H. Walker, embarked upon a wonderful "military life" that took them to Mississippi, Alabama, Japan, Texas, Virginia, New Zealand, back to San Antonio, Texas, and then to Montgomery County, Texas. Sue was a devoted member of Northwood Presbyterian Church of San Antonio and First Presbyterian Church of Conroe. She cherished her life with her husband, Lewis.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and easily maintained numerous, life-long friendships from around this country, and from as far away as Wellington, New Zealand. Sue is pre-deceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by: her two sons, Lewis H. Walker, Jr. and David K. Walker, and their spouses, Sharon and Andrea; her grandsons, Lewis H. Walker, III and Nicholas Lee Walker, and their spouses, Jennifer and Lindsey; her granddaughter, Lori Leigh Hall; her great-grandchildren Avery, Abigail and Masen; her brother, James W. Tharp and sister-in-law, Derita Bryant Tharp of Louisville, Kentucky; her niece, Dina Sue Tharp; her nephew, Kerry Wayne Tharp and spouse Debbie, and their sons, J.B. Tharp and Wil Tharp; and J.B.'s wife, Catherine, and their son Coleman. Sue will be buried next to her beloved Lewis at Sligo Baptist Church Cemetery, Sligo, Kentucky, approximately one mile from her place of birth.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to the staff of Consider the Lillies of Conroe, Park Manor Skilled Nursing of Conroe and to Heart to Heart Hospice, for their generous, loving care and support.

"In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also." John 14:2-3

Graveside services will be held 3:00PM Friday at Sligo Baptist Church Cemetery Sligo, Kentucky.
