Suzanne Jordan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 30, 2017.

Suzanne Rae Jordan

Suzanne "Sue" Rae Jordan, age 80, formerly of Mound City, Missouri passed away peacefully in Van Nuys, California on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Sue was born on August 4, 1937 in Springfield, Ohio.

In 1954, Sue was set up on a blind date with Harold Jordan, Sr. – it was April Fool's Day. She fell deeply in love with Harold and they were married on September 8, 1956 in Springfield, Ohio. They then moved to Urbana, Ohio and started a family. They remained in Urbana until 1962 at which time they relocated with their four children to Mound City so Harold could join his father's plumbing and electrical business.

In 1986, Sue and Harold moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she worked as a store clerk before retiring. In 2015, Sue and Harold moved to Woodland Hills, California to be near their daughter, Kim.

Sue enjoyed crocheting and was an avid reader; she also was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Robert Ballentine of Phoenix, Arizona and Gilbert Ray Ake (father) of Springfield, Ohio.

Survivors include Harold L. Jordan Sr. (her husband of 61 years), children Kimberly "Kim" Cecil (Brian), Harold L. "Rusty" Jordan Jr. of Woodland Hills, CA; Teresa "Tracy" Jordan and Scott Jordan (Theresa) of Mound City, MO.; sisters, Kathryn Ballentine Shepherd of Mt. Landing, VA and Judith Ake of Springfield, OH; and 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date and will be held at New Life Apostolic Church in Mound City, MO.

My dear mother-in-law, you are deeply loved and missed. You left us so suddenly that we seem to be suspended somewhere between shock and overwhelming grief. Somewhere in all of that, memories come. Sometimes they come in the form of a smile. More often than not, they roll down our faces. One thing for certain, you left your mark.

One of my greatest gifts came from you. Because of the love you and Harold had for one another, I am blessed with my darling husband: Scott. Thank you. A million times over, thank you.

I see you in the most random places at the most unexpected times. Your children each have the best of you. I see you so clearly in them. I'll never see another rose without seeing you. I'll forever treasure the times we spent together, the times we talked. Sometimes I'll smile. Other times, it will be the tears. One thing for certain, I'll remember.

I'll always remember your last words to us: Thinking if you, love Mom and Dad.

Thinking of you, love your daughter-in-law.
