Sybil was native of Colfax, Louisiana, and for the past 59 years a resident of Sulphur. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a member of Henning Memorial United Methodist Church since 1954.

She was a graduate of Colfax High School, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northwestern State University and a Master of Education at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. After graduating from Northwestern, she was employed by the Department of Public Welfare in Alexandria, LA, where she resided at the time. In 1951, Sybil and her family moved to Calcasieu Parish, and she was employed by the Calcasieu Parish School Board. She taught in schools in Starks, Vinton, and Sulphur. Her last 29 years were spent at D.S. Perkins, Frasch Elementary and Our Lady's School teaching the fifth grade most of her years. After retirement in 1980, Sybil spent much of her time devoted to family and volunteer work in various organizations. She served 27 years with the West Calcasieu Hospital Auxiliary. Other organizations were President of the Sulphur Chapter #1982 of AARP, Charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa Education Sorority, Past Worthy Matron of Love Chapter Order of Eastern Star, President of the Sulphur Garden Club, Member and Past President of the Henning Church United Methodist Women, active member of the Friendship meal team, delivering meals to and visiting shut-ins, membership Chairperson for the Lake Charles District Methodist Women, and a member of the State and local Retired Teachers organization.

Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Ford Jardell and husband Billy; grandchildren, Marc Jardell, Kevin Jardell(Colleen); great grandchildren Michael, Cameron, Claire and Cayman Jardell; sisters, Mabel Foster, Vivian Tuminello, Melba Salonek (Gene), Nelda Englehart, Audrey Ellington (Jack), Irma Henry (Mike); brother Daniel Brown(Barbara), and many nieces and nephews.

Sybil was preceded in death by her parents Alonza and Bertha Brown, husband Bill Moore, Sister, Jewell Hodnett and Louise Caster, brothers, Ralph Brown and Aaron Brown.

Funeral services for Sybil will 1 p.m. Monday, April 28. in Henning Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Doug Cain will officiate; Interment will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South.Visitation will be 11 a.m. in the church until time of funeral.

Pallbearers will be Marc Jardell, Kevin Jardell, Michael Jardell, State Representative Terry Brown, Mike Brown, Mickey Durand, Honorary pallbearers Daniel Brown, James Hodnett, Gene Salonek.

Memorial Donations may be made to Henning Memorial United Methodist Church, Methodist Children's Home or Care Help of Sulp

Glenda, I am saddened to learn of the death of your mother. I shall always remember Sybil as a dear friend, neighbor, and fellow circle member. I have happyy memories of my family rejoicing with her at her marriage to Bill. Please know you are in prayers during this time of grief.
