Obituary

T. Allen Acree 79, of Simonton, Texas, passed away on November 25, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents Willie Mae and John Ford Acree Sr., two daughters Carrie Lynn McLaughlin and Esther Gayle Acree. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Elma and daughter Patsy Acree of Simpsonville, South Carolina. Also surviving are his brother John Ford Acree Jr. and wife Glada, sisters Dorothy Burton and husband Shepherd and Frances Saunders and husband Joe. Allen graduated Texas City High School in 1953, served the US Army for 2 years in Germany with the 4th Armored Division and always enjoyed attending the reunions for both groups....

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Elma and daughter Patsy Acree of Simpsonville, South Carolina. Allen graduated Texas City High School in 1953, served the US Army for 2 years in Germany with the 4th Armored Division and always enjoyed attending the reunions for both groups. He graduated college from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Marketing and Finance, was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and remained an avid Longhorn fan and Texas Exes alumni. For over 30 years, Allen was in the insurance business and later sold real estate. Allen raced stock cars for 13 years as a member of the Sports Car Club of America, collected antique cars and enjoyed sports and family travels. His love of horses and people kept him active for over 40 years as a lifetime member and director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Tejas Vaqueros and Valley Lodge Trail Ride Associations. He will be missed by many friends and family, but know he is now at peace with angels. Visitation for Allen will be held at Forest Park Westheimer, on Tuesday, December 3 at 1 pm with services to follow at 2pm.
