T.C. Muckelroy passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at The Joseph House in Lufkin, Texas, at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 8 days.

He was born June 8, 1935, in Etoile, Texas, to parents Bean Glenn and Luella (Partin) Muckelroy. He was a longtime resident of the Etoile area who graduated Woden High School in 1953 as Salutatorian and sports manager.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Etoile with Bro. Skip Eberlan and Bro. Glen Morton officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery, located at 19270 South FM 226 in Etoile.

Pallbearers will be Justin Muckelroy, Martin Hoffart, Shane Hoffart, Trevor Muckelroy, Tyler Castleberry, and Jacob Lee.

Friends and family are invited to visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf.

Mr. Muckelroy worked at the Houston Post for 33 years as a printer. He was an avid 42 player and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. The biggest fish he caught was a 75 lb. Op. He would often pass down this tradition to his children, teaching them the outdoor activities he loved. He enjoyed sports and would keep up with the stats of his favorite sports teams vigorously. He even recorded the outcomes of his kid's sporting events in a notebook. He was also a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Etoile and a Baptist Deacon.

T.C. was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Anna Odell Muckelroy; daughter, Rose Meyer; and sisters, Nellie Faye Graves and Bennie Lou Tindall.

He is survived by his son, Roger Muckelroy and wife Julia; daughter, Bonnie Hoffart and husband Dan; son, Travis Muckelroy; son-in-law, Richard Meyer; brother, Gerald McClure and wife Marie; sisters, Gene Runnels, Bettie Sue Burkhalter and husband Vernon, and Donna Jo Lee and husband Karey; grandson, Justin Muckelroy; granddaughters, Amber Castleberry and husband Tyler, Millicent Muckelroy, Anna Muckelroy, Alyssa Muckelroy, and Ashley Muckelroy; grandsons, Martin Hoffart, Trevor Muckelroy, and Shane Hoffart; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made in Mr. Muckelroy's name to Macedonia Baptist Church, located at 16789 FM 226 in Etoile, or to Joseph House, located at 5783 FM 841 in Lufkin.

I hear Uncle T.C. singing "Mockingbird Hill" in the early morning times after spending the night at "the Mansion". What a wonderful man he was! Those fishing sprees when the family would gather in April at Granny's house are some of my fondest memories as a child. The truth is I don't believe I ever beat him in a game of 42! So many memories of a Godly man...may all of his family find God's comfort at this time...

I was saddened to read of the passing of T.C. We were in high school at the same time at Woden and I have seen him many times since at reunions. My condolences to family and other friends.
