Tammy Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 23, 2010.

Tammy Rae Allen, 40, lifelong Duluth resident, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, January 22, 2010.
Tammy was born in Duluth on July 16, 1969 to Thomas Allen and Lois (Ecklund) Johnson.
She attended Two Harbors Middle School, Hermantown High School and was a 1987 Central High School graduate.
Prior to her accident, Tammy was employed with Miller Dwan Generations as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and was on her way to become an LPN. Tammy loved her work and the people she took care of.
In 1993, Tammy was in an accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Her life was forever changed. Although she faced new challenges and pains, she became a teacher of great love, compassion and spirit. Those who were lucky enough to meet Tammy, were touched by her clever wit and laughter; and shared in her love for food, music, and family outings.
Tammy's family would like to extend a very special thanks to so many wonderful people for their outpouring of love, especially over the last 17 years. Love from family, friends and people who only knew Tammy through her story. Thank you to RSI and their amazing care givers and staff who were angels and gave above and beyond. Also, the many doctors and cargivers at St. Luke's, St. Mary's, Sister Kenney, Polinsky, and St. Louis County, who made Tammy's life so much better.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Jack Allen; maternal grandparents, Harold and Shirley Ecklund and a special friend, Denise Rippberger.
Tammy will be missed greatly by her mother, Lois Johnson of Duluth; father, Thomas Allen of Two Harbors; sister, Laurie (Matt Ferry) Allen of Mpls.; brother, Joshua Allen of Boise, ID; paternal grandmother, MaryJane; loving aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends and caregivers; her roommates Jack, Brian, David and their amazing families.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in Bell Brothers Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home. 925 East 4th St.
