It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tammy Lynn Moyer of News 1130 on March 18th, 2016 at 5pm. Tammy was a beautiful soul who was taken too early from this earth by the horrible disease, Pancreatic cancer. Tammy spent many months in and out of the Hospital without any answers to what was causing her pain. In February she was finally diagnosed with the Cancer and a month and a half later she was gone.

Tammy was born at Maple Ridge Hospital on October 27th, 1969. She grew up in Maple Ridge, dancing her way from Golden Ears Elementary all the way to MRSS and graduating in 1987. From there she went on to study at BCIT, where she caught the bug for broadcasting and never looked back. From there she chased her dream of being in the broadcast industry to the Island where she was employed in Nanaimo and then went on to work for CFAX in Victoria, that is where she started to spread her wings in the broadcast field. After her stint on the Island she moved over to CKNW and finally to News 1130 in Vancouver. Tammy loved it there but the call for a new adventure pulled her to Montreal. It was there that she had her son and the love of her life Emelyan. Soon after she returned to Vancouver and returned to her most recent job at News 1130. Tammy quickly became a recognizable voice in the industry, she had a certain genuine quality that made people want to emulate her style. She let people into her life on their morning drive, she was personable yet professional. She loved her job, even if it did come with a 2am wake up call. Tammy made the hour drive every morning and often hosted events after work, making for a very long day, but she always did it with a smile. That fabulous smile and laugh that could light up the air waves and any room she walked into.

Tammy was a giving soul, full of life and love for humanity. She loved giving back to the community and Province that she loved so much. Giving her free time to many causes such as the Courage to Come Back Awards, Blind Beginnings, A Loving Spoonful, The Woman of Worth Event, BC Lung Association, Variety, Woman of Influence, Big Sisters of BC, Brian Jessel, and many many more. She loved giving, she truly did. She always thought about others before herself. She did whatever it took to give the people in her life everything she could. She would give you her last dollar if you needed it. She wanted to make the world a better place. In fact on the day she was finally diagnosed with Cancer she looked at her Mother and said "I can't go yet, there are just so many people that I still want to help." That's just one example of the caring soul Tammy was.

She called it like she saw it but was always there for you with a smile and a hug if you were in need. Whether you were one of her oldest friends from back at Golden Ears, part of her parents group at St. Pats school or a brand new employee at News 1130 fresh out of BCIT she treated everyone the same, with respect! She was always there to listen and cheer you on when you needed someone in your corner. She just cared so much for the people in her life.

When she wasn't busy bringing the news to the people of Vancouver, her most important job was being a single mom to her 7 year old son Emelyan. Her pride and joy, her life's greatest achievement. Everything she did was to give her son the best life she could. You could see this in the countless hours she devoted to her sons school volunteering and helping with the many fundraising events that the school put on. If it was going to help her son she was going to be involved. She was that kind of hands on Mother. Tammy was all about her family and you would know this if you followed her on any of her social media platforms. There you would see all the many wacky adventures she would take with her son, her mother and her brother's family. From countless events in Vancouver to her many trips to Disneyland, wherever she would go you knew her close knit family was just steps behind. She loved sharing her life with her friends, family and all her loyal listeners. She was an open book and boy what an inspiring thrill ride of a read it was.

Tammy was survived by her Parents Eileen and Keith, her son Emelyan, her Brother Jason, his partner Kelly and their children Presley and Jordyn and many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.

Tammy may not be with us anymore but her smile still shines bright in our lives, she was a complete gem of a woman and will forever be in our hearts. We were beyond lucky to have her in our lives. We will miss you forever Tammy.

A service to celebrate Tammy's life will be held on April 1st 2016 at St. Patricks Church 22589 121 Ave Maple Ridge. Refreshments to follow in the Auditorium.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Go Fund Me campaign that is set up to help support the family in the raising of her son Emelyan at www.gofundme.com/tammymoyer
