Ted Alan Archer, age 69, of Penn Yan passed away Tuesday, May 16th at Geneva General Hospital.
Ted was born May 1st, 1948 in Penn Yan, the son of the late, Ella Nielsen and Harold Frederick Archer. Ted was a graduate of Penn Yan Academy and had attended Syracuse University and Hobart College. He enlisted in the US Marine Corp and served from 1969 thru 1971. Ted was stationed in Da Nang during Vietnam War. He later attended FLCC earning his degree in Mechanical Technology. He had worked for Morton Salt Co. and Kodak, and in the recent years he worked as an Employment Counselor for Yates County in Penn Yan. Ted was a life member of the Penn Yan VFW where he had once served as Commander of the Post. He was also a member of the Johnson-Costello American Legion and a member of the Sheldon Hose Co. of the Penn Yan Fire Dept. Ted was also active in the Yates County Junior Football League for over 25 years, where he had served as a team commissioner, head commissioner and former president.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Francine Beebe Archer; sons Derek Archer of Penn Yan, Trevor (Samantha) Archer of Penn Yan, and Blake Archer of Wilmington, NC; his twin grandsons, Bodhi and Kian Archer of Penn Yan; sister, Joan (Mickey) Orr of Penn Yan; aunt, Dorothy Archer of Geneva; mother-in-law, Winifred Beebe of Corning; father-in-law, Richard (Betty) Beebe of Vero Beach, FL; Sisters-in-law, Kathy Beebe of St. Augustine, FL and Patti (Brian Mitchell) Beebe of Crestview, FL; brother-in-law, Rick (Suzie) Beebe of Ft. Pierce, FL; as well as, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many many wonderful friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Friday, May 26th, 2017 at the Johnson-Costello American Legion, 2001 Himrod Rd., Penn Yan, NY with Pastor Lexa Liepe officiating and Military Honors. A celebration of Ted's life will continue following the service at the Legion Post. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ted's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517; to a Veterans Organization of individual choice; to the Neonatology Division, Golisano Children's Hospital, 601 Elmwood Ave., Box 651, Rochester, NY 14642, to Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 PreEmption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456, or to an organization of individual choice.
