Teresa A. "Terry" Abbett, 71, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday August 16, 2013 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. She was a daughter of the late William and Guyla "Pat" McCaffrey, a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, a 1959 graduate of Marion Bennett High School, and received her nursing degree from Ivy Tech. She worked at Lutheran Home, and Visiting Nurse Hospice Home. "She was a kind caring, compassionate, woman who loved working with the elderly, and those in the final stages of their lives."
She is survived by her husband, Dan A. Abbett; children, Stephanie Kearby, of Fort Wayne, and Michael Ember, of Clearwater Beach, FL; brothers, Larry (Carol) McCaffrey, of Houston, TX, and Kevin (Vonda Albertson) McCaffrey, of Tipp City, OH; step-daughter, Jennifer Abbett; and mother-in-law, Bernice Abbett, both of Roanoke; as well as grandchildren, Carlie, and Mindy, four great-grandchildren, and four nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM Wednesday August 21, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne. Calling will be held from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 PM Tuesday August 20, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, with a Rosary service at 7:30 PM. Memorial donations may be given to St. Therese Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, or Visiting Nurse Hospice Home.

I have the greatest memories of working with Terry at Lutheran Homes. She was a great nurse and had a smile for everybody. My thoughts and prayers go to the family as they mourn the loss of Terry. We all have such good memories of her. She was quite a lady.
