Everyone's life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Teresa de Jesus Acan was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Teresa will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

Teresa's life journey began on March 1, 1928. Her parents' names were Gavino and Aurelia de Jesus Acan. She was raised with one sister, Trinidad and two brothers, Nicanor and William de Jesus Acan. Teresa was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her family sharing many life experiences over the years.

Teresa's school experience, was attending Batac Institute at Iloco Norte, Philippines. She later attended St. Williams Laoag City, where she earned her degree of Bachelor's in Education.

Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Teresa experienced that with Vivencio Cacacho Acan and the couple exchanged wedding vows on June 5, 1949. The wedding took place at the Philippines Paoay Cathedral. Empathic and loyal, Teresa was committed to making her family happy.

While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Teresa was blessed with five children, Rolando, Rosemarie, Marilyn, Jaime and Josephine. Teresa worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs, raising her children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Teresa was blessed with the gift of 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Teresa enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Teresa worked diligently and did her best to succeed in career. Teresa worked as an Elementary School Teacher for 20 years. She was also nominated for Employee of the Year.

A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Teresa enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including cooking, dancing, singing, watching television, cleaning but most of all spending quality time with family. She was usually willing to share her interests with others.

Teresa de Jesus Acan left us on May 12, 2012. She passed away in San Diego, California. She was 85 years old. She is survived by her children, Josephine Edralin, Rosemarie Santi, Jaime Acan, Rolando Acan, Marilyn Acan, and 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, her brothers and sister. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A funeral mass was held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bonita, California on May 18th, 2012. Teresa was laid to rest at Our Lady of Peace Memorial Gardens in Barrigada, Guam.

So this is Teresa's life, the sum of the woman that she became. Simply stated, Teresa was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Teresa leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Teresa de Jesus Acan touched will always remember her with a smile.
