Teresa Ann Holman Layne passed away on March 4, 2012 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Union City, TN and she is survived by her parents Robert W. and Trudy Holman of Union City, TN. She graduated from South Fulton High School and she later received a Degree in Nursing from Union University in 1982.
After graduating from Union University, she work as a Registered Nurse at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and she later worked in the Neuro-Trauma ICU at Methodist Central in Memphis, TN. In 1990 she and her husband Mark moved from Memphis to Jackson TN where she retired from nursing and became a stay at home mom.
She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully. She also loved people and invested her time and her life in others. She served at West Jackson Baptist Church working in the women's ministry, children's ministry and most recently in the youth ministry. She previously worked as a volunteer counselor at Birth Choice Crisis Pregnancy Center in Jackson.
One of her real loves was the Hartland Place Ministry on Old Hickory Blvd in Jackson. The Lord graciously used her and a couple of her friends to start this ministry that has developed into a "church" for those that attend. While she recently was not able to be as active in this ministry, it always thrilled her soul to hear how God was working in the lives of the people in that ministry.
She is survived by her husband, Mark M Layne and their four children – Matthew Jordan Layne, Christopher Daniel Layne, Julia Rhea Layne, and Jenna Marie Layne. She is also survived by her sisters Janiece Wright of Dyersburg TN, Rose Townsend (Jon) of Orange Beach AL and her brothers Mike Holman (Penny) and Steve Holman both of whom live in Union City, TN.
Visitation will be held at the George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel on Tuesday, March 6th, from 5 pm until 8 pm and also on Wednesday, March 7th, from 1 pm until the funeral service at 3 pm held at West Jackson Baptist Church.
Memorials may to be directed to West Jackson Baptist Church.
