Terry Ann Saltzman Silvers, of Houston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, the 24th of November 2012, after a short illness. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on the 11th of August 1950, to Shirley and Maurice Saltzman.
Terry leaves behind her husband of 21 years, Michael M. Silvers; her mother, Shirley Saltzman; her sisters, Jude Bea and Lorrie Fromson; her husband's brothers and sisters, W.S. "Sandy" Silvers, Sylvia and Jerry Harris, Jules Silvers, Adele and Andrew Bloom, Diane Ravitch and Mary Butz, and David Silvers; and many nephews and nieces in a large, loving family. She was predeceased by her father, Maurice Saltzman; mother and father-in-law, Anne and Walter Silvers; and brother-in-law, Robert L. Silvers.
Terry attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority and Ohio State University, later joining her father's company, Bobbie Brooks, in national sales. She lived previously in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona, before settling in Houston with her husband. She was a talented ceramicist and enamel artist, selling and exhibiting her work to galleries and institutions around the country. She was involved with the creation of the Saltzman Youth Panel in Cleveland that educates high school students in philanthropy. Terry also raised champion English Setters who are part of her family too.
Terry's family would like to gratefully acknowledge the support of her trainer and dear friend, Tina Sandoval.
A funeral service is to be conducted on Tuesday, the 27th of November, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Rabbi Adrienne P. Scott, Associate Rabbi with Congregation Beth Israel, is to officiate.
The interment is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Temple Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet Street in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family kindly suggests that contributions be directed to the Maurice Saltzman Youth Panel at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, 25701 Science Park Drive, Cleveland, OH, 44122; or to the Interstitial Cystitis Association, PO Box 17522, Baltimore, MD, 21297-1522.
