Thelma N. Allport 95, of Lansing, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Bower's Hospice House with family by her side.
She was born December 8, 1921 and was the daughter to the late Jacob and Alice Stroud Seelinger.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Lansing Baptist Church and her faithful Wednesday Bible study group for more than 20 years included June Denoff, Norma Smith, and Norma Shuff.
She is survived by her son, David Michael Allport and wife, Linda of Beckley; her daughter, Mona L. Groves and husband, Dana of Summersville; four grandchildren, David Jones of Lewisburg, Christopher R. Groves of Craigsville, Dr. David Michael Allport and wife Candy of Dayton, TN, Dr. Christopher D. Allport and wife Lisa of Huntsville, AL, eight great-grandchildren, Ashley Jones, Sarah Allport, Nathan Allport, Caleb Allport, Benjamin Allport, Tristan Jordan, Amelia Allport, David M. Allport, III.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Orval O. Allport, and son, Billy D. Allport, two brothers, William Seelinger, Roy Seelinger, and two sisters, Rosie Blume and Katie Seelinger.
Family and friends will be received at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home in Fayetteville on Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 and the funeral at 2:00 pm. with Pastor Kenny Hayes officiating. Entombment will be Saturday at Restlawn Cemetary at Victor. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, son-in-law and friends.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Fayette Continuous Care, Dr. Scott Keffer, Dr. Erika Beckett, Plateau Medical Center, Bowers Hospice House, and her caretakers, Carolyn Eastman, Connie Lee, Elizabeth Koontz and Rose Carte for their compassionate care and assistance.
