At St.Mary's Hospital, after a heroic struggle against cancer Thelma peacefully left this world. Thelma was a strong wife, mother, grandmother, sister and admired contributor to her church – Highland Baptist. Survived by husband Terrence, sons Shaun (Jeanette Fooks) and Matthew (Karen), grandchildren Samuel, Jeffrey, Jean and George. Beloved sister of Mary Reed, Marie Christie (nee Reed), sister-in-law Islah Reed, predeceased by siblings Dorothy McGill, Arthur Reed, Edna Crigger, Norman Reed (RCAF, 1942). Thelma was the adored youngest of Charles and Jennie Reed of Chesley, and empathetic aunt and cousin to many. Close friends with Don and Dolores Dugal (Michigan). The family appreciates the support of Reverend Das Sydney and the congregation of Highland Baptist, in Thelma's life, and her recent struggle. They gave back after Thelma gave so much to others. The best efforts of many medical practitioners that provided their knowledge and deep caring for Thelma are recognized. Daughter-in-law Karen's help at Thelma's side through the treatments and daily trials was deeply appreciated. Thelma's loving, artistic spirit will live on in the creations she left behind and the many lives that she helped to shape. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King Street West, Kitchener on Tuesday September 24 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and at Highland Baptist Church, 135 Highland Road West, Kitchener on Wednesday September 25 from 2-2:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Highland Baptist Church on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Highland Baptist Church are appreciated.
