Theodore E. "Ted" McCafferty – an 81 year-old lifelong resident of Mobile passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013. Ted was a graduate of McGill Institute and a Korean War veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Mobile Gas as Construction Superintendent after many years of service. Ted enjoyed boating, was an avid fisherman and crabber, and loved to share the bounty of his catch with his family and friends. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of several mystic societies. Ted was preceded in death by four brothers. He is survived by his sweetheart and beloved wife of 59 years, Barbara McCafferty; children, Marilyn Gengo (Joe), Maureen Hryniszak (Dan), and Theodore E. "Ted" McCafferty, Jr. (Lisa); seven grandchildren, Chris Gengo (Jessica), Michelle Gibson (Thomas), Leslie Gengo, Catherine Graser (Erik),Tyler Fore (Danielle), Brittany McCafferty, and Ashley McCafferty; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Monday, April 22, 2013, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Sunday, April 21, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered at www.mmgfuneralhome.com.
