Sister Theresa Duffley, S.O.S. Sister Theresa Duffley died peacefully at the Scarborough General Hospital, Toronto ON September 24, 2012 after a brief illness in the 62nd year of religious life with the Sisters of Service. Born in Saint John, N.B. one of the four children born to George Duffley and Ellen Quinn. Predeceased by her parents and her brother Bernard (Peggy). She is survived by her brother Philip (Adeline) and her sister Helen (George) Barrett and many nieces and nephews. Sister Theresa Duffley died peacefully at the Scarborough General Hospital, Toronto ON September 24, 2012 after a brief illness in the 62nd year of religious life with the Sisters of Service.
Born in Saint John, N.B. one of the four children born to George Duffley and Ellen Quinn. Predeceased by her parents and her brother Bernard (Peggy). She is survived by her brother Philip (Adeline) and her sister Helen (George) Barrett and many nieces and nephews.
Theresa's first Sisters of Service mission assignment was the Residence for Young Women in St. John's, NL. She later continued to serve in their other residences in Halifax, NS., Montreal, QC and Edmonton, AB.
Theresa's gifts of hospitality, music and song, her skills and experience in working with young people were valuable assets in her residence ministry.
In her other ministries, Theresa was Director of the Daly Centre, Regina, SK, the Religious Correspondence School of the Sisters of Service in cooperation with the National Office of Religious Education in Ottawa, ON.
On her retirement, she was an active volunteer in the local communities wherever she was missioned.
The Sisters of Service extend their sympathy to her family and many friends. May she rest in peace. Relatives and friends may call at the LaSalle Manor, 61 Fairfax Crescent, Scarborough, ON Wednesday, September 26, 2012 anytime after 3:30 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Edward McGovern at the LaSalle Manor Chapel on Thursday, September 27 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Sisters of Service plot at Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery, Toronto, ON. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel, Toronto, ON.
