Thomas Edgar Hight, 66, of New Memphis, IL, born September 9, 1949 in St Louis, MO, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 in Belleville, IL.
He retired from JB Gury Co, in St Louis, MO as a machinist. Tom was a very devout and spiritual person, and made it possible for others to improve their lives through his generosity. Tom was a fantastic machinist; he could fix anything, make anything and came up with an easier way to do almost anything. He was also a skilled woodworker, metal worker, and carpenter.
Tom was not a people pleaser, but to the people he cared about he was very giving of his time and talents. He loved with every fiber of his being. He was honest and trust worthy beyond measure. Every project had to be perfect, no matter how large or small the job was. One of his favorite sayings was "details make the difference". He was very meticulous about any and every job or project. No detail was too small to be overlooked.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Richard W. & Arlene L., nee Langley, Hight; and his previous wives, Martha Hight, Debbie Hight.
He is survived by his loving wife, June Richter-Hight; brothers James D. (Sandy) Hight, Sr. of O'Fallon, MO, Rueben B. St Clair of Utah; sister, Sally S. Hight of St Louis, MO; best bud, Donny Santel of New Memphis, IL; special friends, Jim & Angie Zagorski of New Memphis, IL; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and other family members.
The family would like to thank the New Baden Fire Department & Ambulance Service, and the St Elizabeth Hospital Emergency Room staff.
The family requests that any floral tributes be perennials (bulbs) or a small shrub or bush that can be used to plant a memorial garden at his home.
We will never get over our loss, but we will get through it.
Memorials in Tom's name may be made to the New Baden Fire Department or Stray Rescue.
