Major Thomas Edward Reynolds USAF (Retired) of Williamsburg, VA passed away Thursday December 28, 2017, at Brookdale of Williamsburg.

Ed is survived by his wife of 71 years, Harlena, only child Debbie Cobb (Arnold), two granddaughters Whitney and Taylor, and two great granddaughters Ansley and Adleigh.

Born in Winston Salem, NC October 27, 1924, Ed was of the "greatest generation". He volunteered for the Army Air Corps and served as a fighter pilot in the Pacific during World War II.

After World War II, Ed attended the University of South Carolina and was a die-hard GAMECOCK fan!
Ed joined the United States Air Force after college and served 30 years.

He believed in God, Country and family followed by playing golf and love of airplanes.

While serving at Andrews Air Force Base, Ed was in charge of securing Air Force One which was carrying President John F. Kennedy's casket after the assassination. Ed can be seen greeting the casket in film clips of this day.

After retiring from the Air Force, he and Harlena owned and operated a ladies specialty shop "Reynolds" in Fountain Inn, SC for 37 years.

He was known for his quick-dry-wit, great golf game, excellent Bridge playing and a lover of all sports.

A private service for immediate family will be held January 12, 2018, in the chapel at Brookdale of Williamsburg. Captain Donald P. Troast, CHC, USN (Retired) will officiate.

Interment with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. A wreath will be placed by the family at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Special thanks to the staff at Brookdale of Williamsburg, Kindred Hospice, and Mary Watkins and staff.

Dear Mrs. Reynolds, Upon seeing Mr. Reynolds' picture I asked my mother to read the notice; It was she who had recollections of when you worked with her sister at American Federal Savings Bank. Ed was connected in some way to my dad's appliance store in Greenville. Sincere condolences to your family from my mother Jane Mills (Mrs. T. Croft) Stone, sister of the late Martha LeGrand Mills and from myself. I was maybe in the seventh grade when I last saw Ed Reynolds and I always held him in high regard. Mom and Martha Mills would drive to your shop in Fountain Inn occasionally to shop and to visit. May the countenance of the Lord shine brightly upon you and your family during the times ahead.

So very sorry to hear that Ed had passed away. I knew Ed and Miss Harlena while they lived in Fountain Inn. It was always a delight to talk to Ed, and Once or twice I played golf with him. He could always tell a good story. May God make smooth the path before you in the day and months ahead. To the entire Reynolds family, May you get peace and comfort that only by trusting in Jesus Christ you can have.
