Thomas L. Anderson, 93, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. His family will be receiving friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., on Monday, 4-8 PM. The funeral will be from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 AM.The Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be offered at St. Philomena's Church, 386 S. Livingston Ave., Livingston, at 10 AM followed by the committal service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Please omit flowers but donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home for the Alport Syndrome Foundation, 1608 E. Briarwood Terrace, Phoenix AZ 85048.
Thomas was born in Orange and was raised in South Orange. He then lived in Livingston for 55 years before moving in with his daughter and son-in-law 5 years ago in Parsippany. During World War II he was a staff sergeant with the Army Air Force participating in the North Appennines, Po Valley, and Central Europe Campaigns earning the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with 3 Bronze Stars.
Tom retired in 1986 from R.H. Wager Co., Chatham, after 35 years as a marine engineer. He was a member of the Livingston VFW Post #2856, Livingston Knights of Comubus #3533. As a communicant of St. Philomena's Church, he also served as an usher for over 15 years. Tom as also a proud member of the Livingston Auxiliary Police from 1952 until 1972.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Marcella and his daughters Lynn P. Brady and Deborah M. Anderson, he is survived by his devoted daughter Betty E. Aurillo and husband Anthony, loving grandchildren Lisa Maurer, Alexis and Thomas Brady, Nicole Lacz, Anthony Aurillo, Travis Anderson and cherished great grandchildren Ashlyn, Devon and Harrison Maurer, and Emmalyn, Maximilian and Wolfgang Lacz.
