Obituary

Thomas O. Blanton, 79, of Charlotte died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital, Main. A native of Rutherford County, Mr. Blanton was born to the late George Dewey Blanton and Coda Carpenter Blanton on June 24, 1930. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Al Brown's 76 Service Station. Mr. Blanton enjoyed stamp collecting, coin collecting and model airplanes and he was always there to help people in need. He was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church. Mr. Blanton is survived by his wife, Carol W. Blanton of the home; children, Ann Ferrell, Christopher Blanton, both of Charlotte, Sherry B....
Thomas O. Blanton, 79, of Charlotte died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital, Main.

A native of Rutherford County, Mr. Blanton was born to the late George Dewey Blanton and Coda Carpenter Blanton on June 24, 1930. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Al Brown's 76 Service Station. Mr. Blanton enjoyed stamp collecting, coin collecting and model airplanes and he was always there to help people in need. He was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church.

Mr. Blanton is survived by his wife, Carol W. Blanton of the home; children, Ann Ferrell, Christopher Blanton, both of Charlotte, Sherry B. Miller of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Rebecca Nix of Henrietta; grandchildren, Yates Blanton, Benjamin and Zach Ferrell and Gina and Shae Miller.

A memorial service will be held 3:00p.m., Sunday, February 21 in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., with the Rev. Earl Pennell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
