The Pope was a dear friend and a great musician. I was privileged to play with him in several bands, including Infant Lunch, Doctors for God, Not Dog Pound and Mo Fine. He was a brother musician and I loved him. He will live in my heart always. - Steve Doudiken

Pope was a thoughtful, unique person who spoke frankly and refreshingly. I'm glad I had the chance to know him and make musIc with him, practices would wear my lungs out with laughing.

I will always remember the night, a decade ago, we sat up going through the vocal real book. Pope on my old electric piano and me singing. We played and sang nearly every song and some he thought of in between. He was such a dear person to me, and I will always love him.

"Pope" was a good friend of mine, a former co-worker who was terrific fun to work with, and a very talented musician. When I first moved to Baltimore he made me feel welcome in my new town. He was a man of integrity and modesty who would no doubt be embarrassed by tributes such as this one, so I'll just say that I will miss him very much.
