Obituary

Thomas Edward Farnan, 83, Kansas City North, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2013 with his family at his side. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 23rd at St. Patrick Catholic Church; burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 PM Tuesday at the Church where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM followed by sharing of memories and stories. Contributions are suggested to a fund in Tom's memory at St. Patrick Parish. Tom was born March 11, 1930 in Clyde, MO and grew up in Parnell, MO. He was a Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Tom lived in Kansas City since 1955 and in 1956 married Darlene Ellis....
Thomas Edward Farnan, 83, Kansas City North, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2013 with his family at his side. Tom was born March 11, 1930 in Clyde, MO and grew up in Parnell, MO. He was a Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Tom lived in Kansas City since 1955 and in 1956 married Darlene Ellis. He was a 39 year employee of Sysco Foods, Inc., formerly Mid-Central Fish and Frozen Foods, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where he was very active in organizing various events including being founder of the St. Patrick Day Irish Fest. Tom was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Fr. Hager Council and American Legion Post of Parnell, MO. For many seasons he was a season ticket holder to the Kansas City Chiefs, tailgating at F-22. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Farnan; brothers, John, Leonard, Alfred; and sisters, Catherine, Irene and Dorothy.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Darlene; 4 children, Sheryl (Jay), Jennifer (Allen), Kathleen "Casey" (Michael), and Tom II; 2 sisters, Margaret New and Mary Rose Chaney; 6 grandchildren, Tanya, Madison, Alex, Maria, Victoria and Nick; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Darlene thanks her 4 children and their spouses, and grandchildren, as well as the staff of NorthCare Hospice and North Kansas City Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
