.After graduating from Plainfield High School, Tom enlisted in the Air Force and fought in Panama during World War II for a total of four years. It was during that time he met and married Tina Bertorelli. Together they added a son and a daughter into their family who are still living today. During his time in the Air Force, Tom served as a Master Sergeant and Air Force Radio Mechanic. He received numerous medals including the Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, Silver Star and the Medal of Valor.

After retiring from the Air Force, Tom went to work for the Four River Ship Yard from 1947 until it closed in 1981. He then worked for General Motors in Framingham, MA for the next 35 years as an Inspector and repaired cars for many people including President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Tom also worked as an auxiliary Police Office for the Ashland Police. He finished his careers with Intercity Alarm Company where he worked for Peter Davenport for 20 years. Tom loved to work.
Tom met and married Margaret Flaherty in November 1988 at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, MA and they honeymooned in Cannes, France. After Margaret retired from her position as an executive at AT&T she and Tom traveled to Portugal, England, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Lake Tahoe California. They vacationed in Florida every year for a month or more until Tom's declining health limited his traveling to Massachusetts.

Tom was President of the Irish American Club, life member of the VFW Post 2578, Hyannis Lodge of Elks 1549, Hyannis Lodge of Moose. Tom and Margaret were also involved with the Cape Cod Conservatory where Margaret served as Vice President of that organization for years. Tom was very active in the UAW under James Hoffa and George Meany and also the American Federation of labor.

Tom loved the Hyannis Yacht Club, especially when his wife Margaret held his 90th birthday party there. A devote Roman Catholic, Tom strongly believed in the power of prayer and was very active at Our Lady of Victory Church, especially when Monsignor John Perry was pastor. He believed in helping the less fortunate because that was his station once.

Margaret Flaherty Fosbre would like to thank many people for their support during his ill years including Dr. Barrows, Dr. McCarthy, Dr. Dietz, Dr. Cotter, Joseph Gentile, friend Raffaele Armente and sister-in-law Ann Flaherty of Norwood.
