Talk about a legacy. For years to come, Tom Sarris will be remembered and associated with the good feelings his restaurant provided to so many. His very name makes me smile.

I only "met," Tom Sarris from a distance seeing him on numerous occasions at his usual corner table near where the prime rib was carved at the Orleans House. As a kid this was our "special occaision place," to eat and we always got dressed up to go there. The Orleans house was a staple in Arlington my entire life and it is truly missed! (W-L class of '98, father W-L class of '65, grandfather GW class of 1918..no W-L back then!)

Hello Chris,
Sorry to hear of the passing of your father.
Tom was a good friend of my dad Nickie Bakalis.
We alway enjoyed visiting with your father at his restaurant or on
his beautiful boats.. The Kismet and Miss Orleans were great memories
for me, cruising down the Potomac River.
My father passed away at age 49, thirty six year ago. You were blessed
to have your dad 89 years.
Everlasting be his memory!

Chris, I remember the night that Orleans House got the first liquor-by-the-drink permit but I forget what year it was! You were my student at the time [at Wakefield]. . . so I heard about what an exciting night it was! I knew your father only through you, but I am so sorry to hear about his death. Please know you and your family have my sympathy.

Chris, my sympathies to you and your family. Your father was a part of the tapestries in many lives. The Orleans House provided the food, light and ambience to countless special occasions and hundreds of daily lunches or evening meals for 40 years of my life. Your Dad's presence at his table colored many of those memories! God bless you and may the kind thoughts of so many touch your spirit gently and bring peace to you all.
