Tim O’Shea of Norcross, a writer and editor on popular culture and former editor and marketing specialist for NAC International Inc., died Sunday, April 30, after a long illness. He was 49.

O’Shea, an author, editor and blogger on popular culture topics, including comic book art and artists, had his own blog and contributed to other publications. He co-founded Smash Pages comics blog. He also was senior editor for 20 years with NAC International Inc., a nuclear services company. A lifelong resident of metro Atlanta, O’Shea graduated from St. Pius X High School and Georgia State University. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir.

Timothy Joseph O’Shea was born Feb. 23, 1968, the youngest of eight children to Arthur and Lois O’Shea. His passions, in addition to pop culture and comic books, were family, faith, karaoke and major league baseball, not always in that order.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Vance O’Shea; son Colin Fuller O’Shea; stepson Sam Gray; stepdaughter Tara Gray (Jon Wood); and grandchildren Kelli Inman, Lindsey Bartlett, and Brandon Bartlett. Additional survivors include sisters Theresa and Mary O’Shea and Helen Tucker (Bill); brothers John, Michael and Brian O’Shea (Beverly) and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Arthur Kevin O’Shea Jr.

The family will greet visitors at H.M. Patterson and Sons Oglethorpe Chapel from 5 to 6:30 PM on Friday May 19, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Family and friends are also welcome to attend the Mass of the Resurrection at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10:00 AM on Saturday May 20, with Rev. Jim Duffy as the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or to the Hero Initiative (www.heroinitiative.org/be-the-hero/).
