Toy was born to Torata and Harumi Hoshiko on their family farm as were her six siblings. She attended Alvina Elementary School and graduated from Caruthers High School in 1940. She attended 4C's College where she received a degree in bookkeeping. She worked as a bookkeeper for Hanson & Sons before being relocated to Jerome, Arkansas with her family. During her relocation camp days she became a 5th grade teacher. While her family remained in camp she was allowed to take a job as a bookkeeper in Cleveland, Ohio. When World War II ended she moved back to the family farm to be with her family. She was hired by Harris Construction Company and was their bookkeeper for many years. Toy married Eizo "Ace" Arakawa whom she had known since child-hood on October 14, 1961 until his passing in November of 1995.

Toy had many hobbies including cooking, reading, sewing, crocheting, the arts and traveling. She was an active and involved volunteer for many community organizations and especially for her church. Toy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Sumio and Harry Hoshiko, her sister June Yabuki and nephew Mark Hoshiko. She is survived by her sisters Noriko Yamaguchi of Renton, Washington, Yoshiko Betty Yamagiwa of Fresno, Toshiko Margie Hata of Fresno; sisters-in-law Emily Hoshiko of Seal Beach, California and Betty Hoshiko of Fresno and many nieces and nephews and their children.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the wonderful support and loving care she received at Sunrise Assisted Living, Saint Agnes Hospice and from Dr. Dennis A. Nakata.
