Born October 18, 1947, Thomas D. Brusse, second son of Delmar and Arlene (Wolters) Brusse, in Sheboygan, WI.
Tom has joined our Loving Lord in His Kingdom on April 9, 2014. The Lord watched over him and knew it was time for Tom to leave us. He is now at peace and will enjoy the richness of eternal life. God has blessed you Tom in so many ways just as he has blessed us in having you in our lives.
February 14, 1970 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Tom and Sherry L. Lehmann, were joined in marriage and together they enjoyed 44 years of marriage.
Being a lifelong resident of Sheboygan he attended area schools graduating from North High School with the Class of 1966. He was employed for 48 years with the Coca Cola Bottling Co. of Sheboygan. Tom's career with Coca Cola began in 1965 as a night truck loader, then a route delivery man, and until his first retirement on March 30, 2007 as the Warehouse Supervisor. He took a brief retirement and returned as a part-time employee with Coca Cola retiring a second time on March 30, 2013. Tom was very proud of his work experience with Coca Cola.
Tom was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. His hobbies included: working on mechanical things, remodeling, woodworking, cooking, watching the birds and squirrels, frying out and just sitting in the swing or on the deck. He was always curious of the world around him. Tom's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed time spent with his children and their families. The grand-children could always bring out the fun loving side of Tom (Papa). There was always a place next to him on the couch or his lap. He had a very keen sense of humor and was always quick with a smile.
Tom was a life time member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, he enjoyed helping with the Food Pantry whenever possible and he looked forward to being able to drive for food drive missions in the community, such as the annual U.S. Postal Food Drive and for the annual Boy Scouts Food Drive.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sherry, their daughter Candi Schnitzler (Leo) of Menomonee Falls, WI. their son Micky Brusse (Lisa) of Oostburg, WI., six grandchildren, Gillian Brusse, Avery Schnitzler, Levi Schnitzler, Jolene Brusse, and twins Aleah and Bryce Brusse. Sisters Virginia Atlendahl, of Sheboygan, and Carol (Tom) Coombe of Eveleth, MN., and brother Allan Brusse of Sheboygan. Two sisters-in-law, Doranna Howerton of Almond, WI and Dorothey Brant (Scott) of Sheboygan. Nephews Dean Radtke (Teri), Richard Radtke (Lynette), Charles Coombe (Jen), Matthew Altendahl and niece Tina Belongia (Jeremy). Great nieces Lauren, Allyssa, Morgan, Jessica and great nephew Clayton., his Aunt Evelyn Kress, and numerous cousins.
Tom's warm smile, laughing eyes, gentle spirit, and easy going personality will be greatly missed. He had a natural ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable and welcome. He had a strong love of life and he lived life as fully as possible just enjoying the simpler things around him. Tom was a builder: a builder of friendship, a builder of family, a builder of life, he tried to always give back more than he received.
Tom's life will be celebrated on April 21st, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th St., Sheboygan, WI. Visitation will be from 4:30pm to 6:30pm with the Memorial Service immediately following. The Reverend Brett Matz will be officiating. A memorial fund is established in Tom's honor for the St. Mark Food Pantry.
Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Delmar and Arlene Brusse, Grandparents Garrett and Johanna Brusse and Max and Leona Wolters.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. S. Mark Bettag and staff, Dr. Minehan and staff, St. Nicholas Hospital Home, Health and Hospice staff and all other St. Nicholas Hospital staff who assisted throughout with Tom's care. We would also like to thank Dr. Edward Smith of Prevea Health and Dr. Warren Brauer of Columbia St. Mary's Marsho Medical Group. You are all indeed very special people.
