Tommie J. Spear was born May 13, 1944, in Wellington. She later married Carl Ausbrooks on July 20, 1962, in Borger.

Tommie was responsible for implementing many child care centers in the Amarillo area, including Kingswood Methodist After School Program and Campfire Program at Carver Elementary Magnet School. She had the first indoor beach in town.

Tommie was employed by Region 16 and later retired from Amarillo College as the Director of Amarillo Child Development Lab School. She loved her kids and grandkids very much. She never met a stranger and was truly a "people" person.
