Tommy L. Knight, Sr. 81 of El Dorado died Saturday, November 30, 2013 at his residence.
Born August 7, 1932 in Sheridan, Texas he was the son of J. A. and Peggy Ann Holmes Knight. Tommy drove for J & M Poultry in the 1960's and retired from ConAgra in the 1980's. He then went to work for Miller Transporters and retired from there in the 1990's. He loved truck driving and had done so for nearly 50 years.
He lived in Kingsland, AR for a period of time in his young years and rode bikes with friends, Tommy and Johnny Cash. He also spent some early years as part of the Knight Brothers Shows.
Tommy was had been a member of the El Dorado Police Reserve during the 1970's and 1980's. He was also a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army.
Tommy loved to fish and garden, being able to make anything grow. He was an animal lover and enjoyed watching birds and squirrels at his feeders.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was his wife, Peggy Sue Galbraith Knight.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Knight, Jr. (Lisa) of Huttig, and Jeff Knight of El Dorado. Also surviving are four grandchildren Amanda Young (Will) of Smackover, Amber Faglier (Shawn) of Newport, NC, James Knight (Heather) of Smackover, and Valarie Chadwick (Lee) of El Dorado along with 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, J. A. Knight, Jr. of Elkins, AR and Eddie Joe Knight of Norphlet and a half-brother, Dr. Bob G. Knight of California.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 7, 2013 in Young's Chapel with Jon Barbarotto officiating. Cremation services by Young's Funeral Directors.
