Tony DeMello was born to Anthony and Lenora DeMello on August 1, 1918, in Traver, CA. The son of Portuguese immigrants from the Azore Islands, Tony was one of eight children. A life-long farmer, Tony spent the majority of his life living in Orosi, CA, where he grew grapes and oranges.
Tony met Marie George in 1936, and they were married in 1937. The marriage lasted 70 years, until Marie's passing in 2008, and produced two children, Marie Louise (Mason) and Dianne (Chappell).
Happiest when he was outdoors and working, Tony remained spry deep into his 90's and took an active role in farming on his property until 2014.
Tony is survived by brother Bill DeMello, sister Bernice Silveria, daughter Dianne, grandchildren Robert, Deborah, Jonathon, Michael, and Stephanie, seven great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Monday from 3-7pm (Rosary at 6pm) at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave, Visalia.
Graveside service is Tuesday at 11am at Smith Mountain Cemetery, 42088 Road 100, Dinuba.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tony's name to Optimal Hospice Foundation, 2439 West Whitendale Ave #B, Visalia, CA 93277.

May Tony rest in peace. My condolences to the family. I valued Tony's friendship and his wife as well. I rented from his sister Teresa many years ago and that is when I met him. He always gave me helpful hints on doing my yard work. He and I both enjoyed gardening. He was akways fun to talk to. He was hard working man and appreciated people who worked hard. He included me in that perspective. He thought for a young person I really worked hard in my yard to make it look good. I now own the home I rented from Teresa. I think both Teresa and Tony are looking down in me and keeping a watchful eye on on me and my home.
