Edwin "Toy" Hoyle, 86, passed away May 30, 2014 at Trinity Village on Springs Road, Hickory. Toy was born July 7, 1927 in Lincoln Co. to the late Arthur Raymond and Lillie Blanche Wehunt Hoyle, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Clark Hoyle and son, Michael Hoyle. He was in the Merchant Marines during WW II, member of the American Legion post #48 , VFW, DAV. Surviving are his daughter, Ruth Ann Hamby of Hickory; son, Terry Hoyle and wife, Jean of Hickory; five grandchildren and fur babies, Gypsy and Petie. Services will be Monday, June 2, 2014, at 11:30 A. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earnest Richards officiating. Interment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:30- 11:15 A. M. at Hickory Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #48, 1127 US 70 Hwy, Hickory, N. C. 28602. Condolences may be made online at www.hickoryfh.com. Hickory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

My memories of uncle Toy would take a lifetime to explain, but those who knew him, know that he did live life to the fullest. My dads death took a little part of his heart when he died. I know growing up, him and my dad were close. Well after 50 years you two will be back together again. love ya uncle Toy

Uncle Toy, my favorite uncle. His Sister, Betty, my mother will not be able to make the furneral due to her bad health, She is very saddened by his passing - as this was her last living sibling. He will be missed by our family.
