Good Morning,

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Robert Canas and like all of you, I am here today to remember the kindest, most humble and beloved man I've ever known, Transito. A man, I've have been incredibly lucky to call, my Abuelito.

To be honest, there aren't any words, that can assuage us of the sadness we all feel in losing such an amazing person; in losing such a driving force in our lives. And although our hearts are heavy, it's important that we not lose perspective in these most vulnerable of moments. It's important to acknowledge how special the Vera family is and that his greatest gift to us was each other. Above all, it's important to know that as long as we keep telling his story and keep passing on the lessons that he taught us, Abuelito will always be here.

I know this because when I look around this room I still see him. I see him in the amazing parents his children and their children have become. I see him in the camaraderie I have with his grandchildren who are my best friends. I see him in the smiling faces of my little cousins who have nothing but all the love and opportunity in the world to look forward to. None of these things would have been possible without him. And so long as we are here for each other; he will continue to be there for us as well.

Let us not forget how strong and resilient, a cloth from which this Vera clan is cut. And that with every baptism, every birthday, every father's day and every Sunday, the tides that bind us will only grow stronger.

We love you Abuelito and we miss you and will forever keep you in our hearts.

Papa , No Hay Palabras
