Travis Roberts Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 7, 2014.

Travis Lee Roberts, Jr., 39 of Marietta, died June 7, 2014. Travis was a Georgia boy. He was born and raised in Marietta, GA, only leaving Cobb County to attend college at the University of Georgia. He met Carrie, the love of his life, at the age of 17, while attending Eastside Baptist Church. They were married in April of 2000. In 2002 Travis had $300 to his name and a vision to build a thriving company in his home town. That business, Hemma Concrete, is now a multimillion dollar a year enterprise that is headquartered in Cobb County. On September 29, 2007, Travis and Carrie welcomed their first child into the world Travis "Trey" Lee Roberts, III. Piper Brooke Roberts followed on August 24, 2009, and their youngest Jake Erikson Roberts was born on May 26, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Roberts; children, Travis Lee Roberts, III, Piper Brooke Roberts, Jake Erikson Roberts; father, Travis Lee Roberts, Sr. (Cindy); mother, Joanne Roberts; and sisters, Faith Roberts and Rhonda Howe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cancer Kicks, a charity set up in his honor, by visiting www.cancerkicks.org. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. Travis requested that there be no black at his funeral. He was known for his vibrance in life, which he expressed through his attire. To honor his requests, please dress with the pizazz that you know he would appreciate. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.

I am a Northwestern Mutual Rep from Williamsburg, Va and Travis' presentation to our regional meetings earlier this year impacted me beyond belief. Listening to him, I was alternatively laughing and bawling. As a parent myself, my heart breaks for him and for all of you who will miss him. His love of life and love for his family shone through and his message to us was loud and clear. Please know you are in so many of our thoughts and prayers.

I had the amazing fortune to meet Travis one weekend in Blue Ridge at Jason's house. I've never met someone who was so driven and lived life to the fullest as much as he did. I could tell that Travis was "full-throttle" all the time. I'll never forget when I offered him last year to join me on my brand new Jet Skis for a spin around the lake. As soon as I handed him the keys, he was gone! I honestly couldn't keep up with him as he was doing 70+ MPH on a supercharged Sea Doo. Later that day he invited me on his Ski Natique to try the new sport of wake surfing. Being a surfer years ago I thought it would be cool to give it try. He showed me the ropes and convinced me I could it despite not having surfed in 30 years. Sure enough, after a bit of coaching (and a few beers), I jumped right up on the board and surfed a wave on Blue Ridge! I owe Travis for my new love of wake surfing (and a new expensive surf boat!) Travis is in inspiration for all of us who lived life to fullest and cared deeply about his family and friends. Normally I would say rest in peace but Travis will be full-throttle in Heaven too! I can only imagine the hardscape he'll be creating for all of us to see!

I don't you, but I am no stranger to loss. 10 months ago I lost my 10 yr old son. My heart hurts for you & your children. Right now you are in shock, but as the fog clears remember this-
When satan tries to remind you of the things in this life Travis was "cheated" of experiencing, let God remind you that the things Travis was "cheated" of in this world is NOTHING compared to the glory of being in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

Carrie, all I can think about is a conversation the Travis had in my office years ago where he went on and on about how much he loved you!! Then to follow the birth of the kids and his success made me so proud of him! No words will ever be expressed that can comfort you now. You will laugh and you will smile because you can't think of Travis and not do that. Prayers to you, your beautiful children, to the entire family and to all that have been blessed to have met this beautiful person!

Travis meant so much to all of us. He was special and that's no lie. He brightened up the darkest day and the cloudiest sky.

His smile alone warmed hearts. His laugh was like music to hear. I would give absolutely anything to have him well and standing near.

Not a second passes when he's not on our minds. His love we will never forget. The hurt will ease in time.

Many tears I have seen and cried, they have all poured out like rain. I know that you are happy now and no longer in any pain.

Rest in peace, my Angel. Until we meet again.
