Obituary

Trudy Allen Ennis, age 58, of Greensboro, died at her mother's home on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. She was born in Cherokee County, N. C. and was the daughter of Ruth May Allen of Stanley and the late Garland Allen. Mrs. Ennis received her B. A. degree, summa cum laude, and her M. A. degree from Western Carolina University. She received her J. D. degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of the North Carolina Law Review and of the Order of the Coif. Trudy Allen Ennis, age 58, of Greensboro, died at her mother's home on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. She was born in Cherokee County, N. C. and was the daughter of Ruth May Allen of Stanley and the late Garland Allen.

Mrs. Ennis received her B. A. degree, summa cum laude, and her M. A. degree from Western Carolina University. She received her J. D. degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of the North Carolina Law Review and of the Order of the Coif. Before attending law school, Mrs. Ennis taught English.

Mrs. Ennis was a member of the law firm, Nexsen Pruet, Greensboro and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. She was actively involved in committees and activities of the North Carolina Bar Association. She was recognized as one of the best lawyers in North Carolina and America and listed in North Carolina as a "Super Lawyer" 2009 for Employment and Labor law.

Mrs. Ennis is survived by her husband, Ronnie Dean Ennis; one daughter: Stephanie Fields and husband Kevin of Essex, England; mother: Ruth May Allen of Stanley; two brothers: James W. Allen and wife Susan of Belmont, N. C., Eric M. Allen and wife Wanda of Mt. Holly, N. C.; two sisters: Judy Stamey and husband Wayne of Gastonia, N. C., Diane McGee and husband Rick of Mt. Holly, N. C.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P. M. to 3:00 P. M. Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Carothers Funeral Home, Stanley, N. C.

Memorial services will be 3:00 P. M. Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Carothers Funeral Home Chapel, Stanley, N. C. with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating.

Interment will be private and at a later date.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to: Blumenthal Cancer Center, c/o Carolinas HealthCare Foundation, 1221 E. Morehead Street, Charlotte, N. C. 28204
