Truman Homer Hoenke

August 14, 1916 - June 4, 2014

Truman H. Hoenke, 97, of Homosassa, passed away on Wed., June 4, 2014 at his home. A native of Flint, MI, he was born Aug. 14, 1916 to Paul and Anna (Reindl) Hoenke, one of four children. Truman graduated with a Master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan. He was a career employee of the Panama Canal Company, a civil service arm of the U.S. Government. He retired as Chief, Locks Division. Mr. Hoenke's passions in life were centered around boating and sportfishing, and he enjoyed vacationing in Vermont each year. Truman is survived by his son, Roger A. Hoenke, also of Homosassa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betsy Hoenke, on Feb. 27, 2008; a daughter, Diana Bauer, and his siblings, Muriel, Paul and Guy. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa.
