Twila Marie Welling, age 94, of Coshocton, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at her residence. She was born in Fresno, on March 1, 1920, to the late Oscar and Minnie (Hahn) Scherer.
On June 1, 1941, she married Virgil Welling who passed away in 1998. Twila was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Eagles of Coshocton. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and walking in the Silver Sneakers group at Kids America.
Twila is survived by her two grandchildren, John Robinson of Pennsylvania and Sherry (Keith) Gunn of Coshocton; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nicklas, and Stephanie Gunn all of Coshocton; two brothers, Glenn Scherer of Baltic and Melvin Scherer of West Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Twila was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Robinson; four sisters, Phebe Deich, Gladys Stein, Mary Stilgenbaur, and Velma Grant; and four brothers, Henry Scherer, Oscar Scherer Jr., Howard Scherer, and Arthur Scherer.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 11:00 am with Pastor Joanna Lance officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in Twila's name to St. John's Church of Christ.
