Mrs. Valentina Glazoonova Moehle passed away peacefully on October 8, 2016. Mrs. Moehle was 90 years old, having recently celebrated her birthday.
Mrs. Moehle was born on June 17, 1926, in Harbin, Manchuria to Natalia Yermnolina Glazoonova and Tikhon Glazonov. She has one sister, Mrs. Tamara T. Verbenkov of Vancouver, Canada. She is survived by her sister, her daughter, Dr. Natalia Moehle Rushing, and numerous nieces and nephews in both Texas and Canada.
Mrs. Moehle graduated from High School in Harbin, Manchuria. After graduation she moved to Tsingtao, China where she worked in a bakery. It was in Tsingtao when she met and married a handsome Marine, Capt. Albert B. Moehle from Willow City, Texas. After Capt. Moehle was transferred back to the United States, they settled in Corpus Christi, Texas. It was there that their daughter, Natalia, was born. Valia (short for Valentina) was a devoted stay-at-home Mother for many years which were pure joy for daughter Tasha (short for Natalia). Valia was an accomplished seamstress and made many lovely outfits for Tasha. As Tasha grew older, Valia taught her how to cook and clean, and keep a tidy household. The entire family loved to read, and Mother and daughter could talk for hours about the books they had read. The family lived in Camp Lejeune, NC, Camp Pendleton, California, McDade, Texas, and finally, Austin, Texas.
After Albert's retirement from the Marine Corps in 1959, the family moved to McDade, Texas where they lived on a farm for three years. In 1962 they moved to Austin where Valia took computer key punch training and Albert worked as a beautician first, and then for many years as a barber in Oak Hill, Texas. Valia worked as a key punch operator for the IRS, and then for 20 years at the Texas Highway Department. Following Valia's retirement, she and Albert spent many happy years together in their Austin home and they found a church home in Bethany Lutheran Church. After Albert's death in 2000, Valia continued to live in their Austin home until her declining health made it necessary for her to move into the assisted living facility at West Oaks. She continued to attend Bethany Lutheran Church where she made many new friends, especially Mrs. Sherry Romska. Valia and Sherry spent many happy hours together as close friends will do. After Valia moved to West Oaks, she and Sherry continued to visit almost daily. Valia loved to watch birds, so Sherry installed a bird feeder outside her window, and the antics of the birds provided many happy hours of entertainment for Valia.
When Valia became extremely ill in April 2016, Tasha returned from her job and home in Winston-Salem, NC to spend time with her dear Mama. That Valia was a woman of extraordinary courage, determination, and faith is evident in her willingness to marry a man from another country, learn a new language and culture, leave behind everything she knew and move to a new country with her husband.
My Mother was an exceptional woman and I am so proud of her. She was the greatest blessing in my life and I will miss her every day for the rest of my life.

Dear Tasha,
It was with a great deal of sadness that I read the obituary for your wonderful and sweet mother. There are many wonderful memories of the times that our families spent together at St. Elias in years past. May her soul rest where the Saints repose and may her memory be eternal. You have my thoughts and prayers. Bill Attal

Tasha, So sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Valia. She was a wonderful lady, and I have very fond memories her. We truly enjoyed the Christmas cards we got every year from Aunt Valia, which were a thoughtful expression of her kind nature. Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
