Valerie Elizabeth Miller, of Highlands Ranch Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2017 following a brave battle with cancer. She was 65 and had just recently retired from the Highlands Ranch Community Association after working thirteen years as their Marketing & Special Projects Coordinator.
Born at the Naval Air Station hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas to H. J. (Jake) and Wanda Burns, Valerie grew-up in Kilgore, Texas and attended Kilgore College and Stephen F Austin State University. She married her long-time sweetheart, Ronnie (Ron) Miller; they would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 30 of this year.
Job transfers took them across the country, as their family grew to include sons Mark and Brian, before making their final move to Colorado.
Valerie enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling the world and reading.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband Ron, mother Wanda, sons Brian (Janice) and Mark, grandsons Scott, Jake, and Joshua and the many friends she has touched in her life.
A Celebration of Valerie's Life will be held Thursday, May 18th at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church located at 9203 S. University Blvd., Highlands Ranch, 80126. Inurnment will be held in Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a favorite charity.

Valerie,
You were so organized and knew the best places to visit on our trips and adventures as couples when we traveled to NHA and Hydrovision meetings over last 25 years. While Ron and I entertained Hydropower clients, you and Kim always seemed to have much more fun. The best times were after these events when Kim and I could take a few extra days to go to Nashville, Yosemite Valley, Wine country etc. with you and Ron. The trip to Italy was a bucket list event for us. Kim and I will miss your laughter, your peacemaker heart, your kindness and your fun spirit. You left me with 2 Type A personalities (Kim and Ron) to continue the adventures and I will still need you help and guidance from above.
We will miss you and Love you so much.
