Dear Bucky,
The last time Valerie called, she was concerned about you. She wanted to make sure that friends would remember "her sweet Bucky" if the Lord called her home. We made Valerie a promise not to forget the love of her life. Nor will we forget Valerie--her bubbly personality and boisterous laugh, her fondness for dancing stuffed animals and "hysterical" novels, her talent for winning Scrabble games, her strong sense of justice, and her passionate witness for Christ.
We'll also remember the funny things she would say. "Fine as frog hairs," was one of the answers Valerie gave when asked how she was doing. What does that mean? "It means mighty fine," she'd reply and cock her head, "because frogs ain't got no hair!"
Valerie also enjoyed repeating profound statements as well. "I'm going to have this one printed on paper weights or bookmarks," she often mused, "so people will be reminded--God sees us as we can be, but he loves us as we are."
Well, God certainly loves Valerie, and so do we. She is resting in his caring arms, feeling "fine as frog hairs!"
We'll remember our promise, dear Bucky. Both you and Valerie will remain in our thoughts and in our prayers.
