I had the honor of having met Venevaa 'Lo' in the 1960's, through my friendship with her son, Steve, when they lived in Deerfield, IL. His mom and I became very good friends...so much so, that she had asked me if I would join her in driving Steve's car to Texas, when he was in the Air Force. I remember that the first time I went to her home, she proudly showed me around. A lovely southern-style house, with pillars and all...just like in 'Gone With The Wind'. She seemed so proud of what she and her loving husband 'Pete' had accomplished for their family. She spoke so lovingly and proudly of her children, Mary and Steve. I also, had a sense that she was very protective of them... (Just like a lioness is with her cubs.)
I was invited to her home other times, one of which she hosted a make-up party...for a teenager, I thought that was so much fun!!!
I had her in my life almost two years, but it did not take me long to realize what a kind, honest, loving, and of course...beautiful lady she was.
She was truly a "Class Act"!
Many years have passed, and with life taking us in different paths...I always kept her and her family in my heart, and I always will. ?
